They make great cut flowers, but you need to stick the stem through a large straw or tube, so that they don't slump over. They last for several weeks. I got a late start 'cause I was gone when it got put up. .. But I have found some very nice fertilizer at 40% off for your Gerbera as one of the subjects of my RT today. :-) ..
